What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small files a website can store in your browser. Similar technologies — such as localStorage and sessionStorage — store information in your browser in the same way. This policy covers both.

Why Exhalibur uses them

Exhalibur is a book website with a members' area called The Guild. We use browser storage to keep you signed in, to keep sign-in secure, to return you to the page you were reading after authentication, and to remember your cookie choices. With your permission we may also remember small optional preferences.

Categories we currently use

Strictly necessary. Always active, because the site cannot operate without them.

  • Authentication and session storage — set by our backend provider (Supabase, via Lovable Cloud) when you sign in to The Guild. Stored in your browser's local storage; used to keep your session valid.
  • Google Sign-In — when you choose to sign in with Google, Google sets its own cookies on its own domains during the sign-in flow. This only happens if you use that option.
  • Navigation memory — a short-lived sessionStorage entry that returns you to the Guild page you started from after sign-in. It is cleared when you close the tab.
  • Cookie choices — a single local entry recording the consent decision you make here, so we do not ask again.

Functional (optional, off by default). If you allow it, we store a random local identifier so the site can remember the reaction (yes / neutral / no) you left on a blog article on this device. Nothing is stored until you consent, and rejecting it does not stop you reading or using the site.

Analytics: none. Exhalibur does not use analytics tools, tracking pixels, advertising or marketing technologies, and does not share browsing data with advertisers.

Marketing: none. Launch-list email signups are handled by our own backend and are covered by the Privacy Policy, not by advertising cookies.

Strictly necessary technologies cannot be switched off

Where a technology is required to deliver the service you have requested — signing in, keeping your session secure, remembering your cookie choice — it operates without consent, as permitted by law. You can still block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of The Guild will then stop working.

Changing or withdrawing your choices

You can change your decision at any time using Cookie Settings in the footer of every page, or here:

Withdrawing consent stops the optional technology being used again and removes the related optional entry from your browser. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser at any time, which signs you out of The Guild.
